Let's Talk Books!
Hullo.
I was born a reader, devouring novels in less than a day.
I was able to read through Harry Potter 2 and 3 by myself when I was in Grade 2.
I read lots of fanfiction and novels still.
I dream of one day keeping a personal library.
SO. What are some must reads, and what are your favorite books?
My wacked out favorites are actually...
Gay Teen Romance (cute, fluffy, non-erotic preferred)
Did I mention I'm a [Hopeless Romantic]?
And of course, the Harry Potter series is the best.

Re: Let's Talk Books!
I like classic novels. I read anything but I suppose I've become a bit of a snob.
Basically anything by Dostoevsky (Brothers Karamazov, The Adolescent)
LOTR
Chronicles of Narnia
I'm currently reading Poe (love Murders in the Rue Morgue) and then I will move onto Chekhov and try Shakespeare again (Hamlet)

Re: Let's Talk Books!
I mainly read biographies and "journal" style books, but I also read literary fiction.
Here are some of my favorites:
Love, Janis by Laura Joplin
My Sergei by Ekaterina Gordeeva
My Horizontal Life by Chelsea Handler
Are You There Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea by Chelsea Handler
Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang by Chelsea Handler
The Hardcore Diaries by Mick Foley
The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde
Paint it Black by Janet Fitch
Less Than Zero by Bret Easton Ellis
But I recommend any novel by Bret. He is a fantastic author, but Less Than Zero is my favorite.

Re: Let's Talk Books!
The HP series was the 1st series of books that i ever read, and I read ALL 7 in 4 months last year - yes, last year, I'm a late-joining reader. And with all the stuff I've read so far, nothing can beat Rowling's Masterpiece. I've even read all the LOTR + Hobbit and no, they didn't even do it for me.
Not even Percy Jackson - ha! face it, that hadn't a hope.. I was a mythology boffin before those novels and now, after reading them, they've messed up my head. He's got the myths spot on, but Riordan's interpretation of the Gods just aren't what I expected and I didn't like it. The book was only funny because of goofiness - goofiness that I felt embarrassed for, that I was ashamed reading the novels. And that's never a good thing :? And do ye Americans REALLY say 'Awesome, man and dude' THAT many times in one conversation. My lord, I've never said any of them in my life!
So! I've run dry! I only really read fantasy books, so does anyone have any suggestions? For a teenage boy? PLEASE no twilight. That means no vamps and all that craic. Just fantasy. Thanks to anyone who can help.
EDIT: I also write a lot, and have written quite a few short stories, and 2 novels - none of which published (yet) of course. I am into my historical Fiction, also, so that could well be applied for my search for a good book above ^^

Oh yes, the PJ movie was perhaps the worst movie ever made. Seriously. The characters were so 'off' from the book.. and the acting were just terrible. But the 1st PJ book - the Lightning Thief - was the best, for me. It went downhill from there... a flying pig in Manhattan? No thanks.
oh! And Madame, did you know that Riordan has a new Greek Mythology Series? It's called 'Heroes of Olympus', and it's a continuation of PJ series, but with new main characters. I just finished it yesterday, and I must say I was flabbergasted at how good it was. It has a much more compelling storyline, and because I'm a myth-nut, I enjoyed it a lot and there's a side of Riordan that came out in that book that I've never seen before. It's much more mature. But still, enough with the 'AWESOME' already!!
EDIT; and resize your avi; 150x150 pixels, I'm sure.

Ah yes, that must be The Kane Chronicles. I've never read it as I have yet to find it
And, as much as I dislike the author, and his style of writing, his novels are abnormally addictive

Re: Let's Talk Books!
I have a Percy Jackson book.. It was okay, I expressed interest, but my library sucks and my parents are stingy.
I also have the first Vampire Acadamy book. I want to read more, but again, library fails, and parents are stingy, even though I can get them from the Post Office..
Mother thought that because I finished the entire Twilight series in less than a week, that I would want the Boardgame, movies and books of my own. (she messed up, got me two different versions of number two and a number three)
I don't mind it that much. I just hate how Meyer sorta just used the second as a massive, boring fill in type thing.
Then she killed it in the fourth with the whole, baby detatched, grows up real quick, tiny little confrontation and Bella is able to resist...
She should have let it die somewhere else. x_x
ANYWAYS.
I got Abarat for christmas.
It was brilliant.
I want to continue reading, but I might wait until they've all been released.
Also, with my favorite Genre: 'A Strong and Sudden Thaw' and 'Vintage (A Ghost Story)' are my favorites from a collection I downloaded.
And I also loved the anime Sukisyo.
I can't find any more though. :3
Currently, I'm reading a Sims story called 'Pleasantries'
http://genlisae.livejournal.com
Found somewhere here ^
I love Sims slashfiction.
And Regular Slashfiction.
Hit me with anything, I'll almost certainly read it.

Re: Let's Talk Books!
Well, I'm currently reading The Diary of Anne Frank.
I'm fascinated with that time period, so it's great book for me.
I love pretty much any historical set book.

Re: Let's Talk Books!
I think I have an old book of that around here somewhere.
I love how they cover of mine is simply, in rather small writing Alice in Wonderland on the front.
Then it's plain the entire rest of it.

Re: Let's Talk Books!
Love Nicholas Sparks, especially "Message in a Bottle" "A Walk to Remember" and "A Bend in the Road".
Also have read several Jane Austen books "Sense and Sensibility" "Pride and Predjudice" and "Persuasion" (actually, I haven't read "Persuasion" and I've had it in my bookcase for about 3 years...I will someday).

@ Conor
Have you read the discworld novels by Terry Pratchett yet? I have literallly every single one *g* My advice if you should try, donĀ“t let the thing about the giant turtle scare you away. For some reason he started about the first ten novels with the same introduction... but the actual books I absolutely love. Particularly "Night Watch"

You may call me Sam.
I don't mind.
We're reading 'To Kill a Mockingbird' as a class atm.
It's really good.
Also, there was a book my friend had that I wanted to read.
'Pride and Prejudice and Zombies'
Looks like it's pretty interesting. xD

Re: Let's Talk Books!
I used to be an avid reader, used to read like 10 novels at a time and still keep track of each individual story lol....but all the drinking and drugs after high school has ruined my memory of some of the stuff I've read lol.
I have read pretty much everything by Terry Pratchett, Stephan King, Christopher Pike, L J Smith, Anne Rice, Anne McCaffery (those are just a few off the top of my head).
My favorite trilogy was The Forbidden Game by L J Smith
but my all time favorite book is still ''The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy'', I even intend to get ''42'' tattooed on myself somewhere later lol
