Realized something last night!
So you know how I had my Country Mountain Cottage that I had to delete because it kept crashing my game? Well last night I went to work on a house that I had started months ago. This house:
Well...it crashed on me every time I tried to do something on the lot, and I thought "oh no...not again". After I started the game back up, I went back to that lot to see what could be causing the crash. As you can see from the pic...there isn't a lot done on it...so finding the crashing issue should be easy. And it was. This house, has the same windows that my Country Mountain Cottage had. The windows are causing my lots to crash! I thought they were EA windows that came with one of the EP's/SP's, but upon further inspection I realized they were CC windows. How are they crashing my game, I thought. I run everything through Custard/dashboard before downloading, and before uploading anything. But they weren't in sims3pack form. They are in .Package form (oy...). I ran Dashboard and, although they aren't "corrupted", they are causing a conflict with another item I have thus causing any lots that I use them on to crash!
Easy solution, remove one of the items causing the conflict right? Not in my case. Stupid me...when I first started compressing files to save space, I didn't think it through and grouped items together into individual files. So that means if I want to disable these windows so they don't cause a conflict anymore, I will be disabling the entire package I grouped them into (which has other stuff in it). So I can't disable just the windows without disabling everything else in that package. So I thought I could disable the other item causing the conflict and keep the windows...only...I did the same thing with that other item.
So instead of disabling all the CC in those two packages...I'm just going to remind myself not to use those two items, only...I don't know what the other item is...but it's only the windows causing the crash. So there is the silver lining, I guess.
I need a drink now....

Awww! That must really suck! Write a note that says "WARNING - Dangerous window is dangerous!" and place it on your screen! Then you wont forget
Re: Realized something last night!
I just might do that!
Or even "Do not group CC together when compressing files".
Or even "Do not group CC together when compressing files".

Sure. These are the windows that were causing my houses/game to crash:
I don't know what the other conflicting item is though because there is no pic for the item and it's in .package form so it's just a bunch of numbers.

And that is why I hate compressing CC.
I only compress my stuff by creator, that way stuff like this doesn't happen. Well at least you figured out the problem, and found out a way to fix it!

Re: Realized something last night!
Well the tutorial I followed, when I first started compressing files, stated that as an option you can group things together such as 'windows' in one group, chairs in another etc. BAD bad idea...
Now I compress the file(s) individually, and I keep the original name of the file too. So if I compress a hair by Newsea...it stays that name by Newsea. Lesson learned!
