We're staying home to watch. We were going to go to a superbowl party, but decided it would be more fun to watch it at home (our tv is much bigger than the person who was throwing the party). Don't really care who wins...although I am leaning more towards the Ravens. BF is rooting for SF. Which is funny because we always root for opposite teams. I don't think we ever agreed on a team before. Makes it more fun this way anyway (unless my team looses, then he sleeps on the couch--jk).

I have to play league while it's going on (couldn't get in touch with other team to set up playing a different night - our league coordinator doesn't really care that playing a bar on Superbowl Sunday will be distracting) so I'll be half-watching.

Is your BF a Seahawks fan? It would explain him rooting for the 49ers. As a Rams fan, I've been told it's close to my duty to root for the 49ers or the Seahawks, as they are teams in the NFC West division, to which I've said "screw you, I'm rooting for the Ravens." That and a friend who runs the Sunday night 9 ball tournaments is a 49ers fan and if they win, we will never hear the end of it.

He "CLAIMS" he doesn't. I think he 'secretly' does and refuses to admit to me because I HATE the Seahawks (being from New England--I love my Patriots even here on the west coast).

I don't buy that he doesn't like them...if you don't like a team, you don't watch every game they air with that team, right? Claims he likes to watch them lose (yeah right...)

I actually witnessed a few years ago, while on the bus home from work, some Mariner's fans belittling another passenger who had a Red Sox cap on.

Yes they do. Mariners suck because they trade off all their good players, and quite a few go to the Yankees. That's where Ichiro went. I wonder if that's another reason. Yankees and Red Sox = big rivalry, so if Mariners players get traded to Yankees (they all still love Ichiro) then I could see why they would act like jackasses to a Red Sox fans. It doesn't justify it by any means. All we have out here are a bunch of sore losers. They were all talk until the Falcons knocked them out.

These guys just didn't like that he wasn't supporting a Seattle team while in Seattle. One thing stood out to me that one of the taunters said to the Red Sox fan, "What's wrong? Ichiro not good enough for you?" I don't know why, but I remember him saying that very vividly. I remember thinking, 'you're the one taunting this poor guy for his team choice...maybe Ichiro/Mariners aren't good enough for you.'

Well, from what I understand, Ichiro is not the first to be traded to the Yankees. I think they had a few that wound up going to the Yankees. A-Rod was one I believe. I think Randy Johnson also started out with the Mariners? They just keep on trading their best players away, lol.

And I'd give them what for if they tried to tell me who to cheer for. I may live in WA, but that doesn't mean I have to trade in my Rams or Packers, or Cardinals, for the Seachickens and the Mariners. Blech.
