some Urban Legends are just too good to be true.
I got interesting in supernatural and Urban Legends because of this TV character:
well my introduction to UL (with the exception I had no idea it was a UL or what a UL was at the time) was at the beginning of the episode of "Who Scared Sue Ellen?". Since Binky was trying to tell the hook UL. That same episode is when I also learned of Babba Yagga (think that's the right name?) (Russia) and banshees (Ireland) and Kappas (Japan). (Harry Potter just got me even more curious about mythology) Not to long ago they had another episode..of how fast ULs can be believed (Buster the Myth Maker-which is tecinally the incorrect title for it since Buster wasn't the one to make up the myth that he and Arthur was investigating..it was Alan..aka the Brain). I discussed some of the Urban Legends I read with mom and she said some like the Baby-Sitter and the Man upstairs would be impossible to happen unless the house had 2 phone lines. I don't believe any of the Urban Legends..but its interesting how gullible people are (Gullible is a word I know from..the mention series).
How did you get interested in ULs?

what do you mean by urban legions? like chain mail? they have urban legions in them, or do you mean idols? i am bit confused
Re: some Urban Legends are just too good to be true.
Urban Legends. Like the one about Teenagers discovering a hook on the car door handle? or the one about a baby-sitter getting a call and its coming from inside the house?

Eh, not like it all.
Carrie is my favorite movie though(original, not crappy remake), I watch it like all the time. xD
I just always hated the creepy jesus freak mum.

Carrie was very different from this. The only things they have in common is the revenge, and "bullying" aspect. With "Carrie" the revenge didn't come until the very end, and the basis of the movie was about her not fitting in because she was an outcast, and because she had special "powers" that is, telekinesis. She was an outcast not because she had the telekinesis, but because she just didn't fit in with the cliques that ran the school.
So in a way I can see why it would remind someone of this movie, but her revenge wasn't driven by someone killing her. She killed her classmates, by using her telekinesis, because she was tired of being picked on, then she died herself (how I don't remember...it's been a long time since I seen the movie...I think the mother had something to do with it?)

She was killed when she set her house on fire, which she did to kill her mum. But then she got stuck in the house, so she died too. Ouh, who doesn't love happy endings?

That's it! Thank you! I think that last time I saw this movie was 5-10 years ago. I remember the prom scene and then Sue having that dream at the end...I just couldn't remember what happened in between those two scenes.
Also, did you know the woman who plays Sue's mother is the real life mother of the actress that plays her daughter, Sue.

Stephen King movie. American cult/horror movie.

^link to IMDB of "Carrie"
Re: some Urban Legends are just too good to be true.
ah just read the plot some parts are alike but others not, but what is this Carrie's "gift"?
Re: some Urban Legends are just too good to be true.
She has telekinesis, which her mum thinks is a gift from the devil.
Ugh, the scenes where the mum locked her in the closet with the creepy crucified jesus scared the hell out of me when I first saw it.
@BSG
Really? Weird....
And another thing about King movies, did you know that he's in all his movies? He usually has parts that last like 1 minute, but I still think it's cool.

Wow how the hell is that related to the Chain Mail?
just as creepy though, i think i would watch something like that during the middle of the day, i over react around near the end of the night when i read the chain mail i was too scared to use the toilet i know it's silly but anything with a good base line scares me to death

I did know that. You're talking to a native Maine-er which is where he is from.
My sister got her photo taken with him at the state fair...I'll post a pic of it later...
I have yet to be able to find him in "The Green Mile" however. I do know he was on the set because he sat in "old sparky" with the straps on and everything and he said he hated every minute of it.
Edit: here's the pic:
and anyone interested, this is his house:
Re: some Urban Legends are just too good to be true.
well I think the closet business had more to do with her having her first period, than the supposed "gift" but than I never seen the movie..only saw it mentioned in a couple of other books. Which made me look it up..I'm not interested in horror.

You mean where her mother found out she started her period so she sent her to the closet to pray?
Re: some Urban Legends are just too good to be true.

Re: some Urban Legends are just too good to be true.
I cant think of any urban legends but I had to comment when I saw you guys talking about Carrie.
I just wanted to say that the end up the movie when Sue has a dream where she is about to lay the flowers on Carrie's grave and then the hand reaches up and grabs her, that was one of the most memorable scenes in a movie that I have ever seen. I remember watching it when I was a kid, and that part still to this day creeps me out.
I just kept thinking of when she woke up screaming uncontrollably and holding her arm.... so scary
