My new kitchen Empty My new kitchen

Post by Kateness Sun Jul 17, 2011 10:48 pm

There's a house I've been working on a little bit at a time for a while now. I call it The Dome Home because everything is circular. Arrow But not everything is circular inside. It's challenging and different to design, which is probably why it's been a couple months now and I'm not done. I just work on it whenever I feel like it. Today I made the kitchen, and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. I just thought I'd share. Smile

I saw someone post here a while ago about how to make the kitchen island and I wanted to try it. I was so happy with how it turned out! I just recently (like in the last month or so) found out about using the Alt key to move stuff around, and I love playing with it!

And I would have used a different mirror, but it wouldn't center over the sink like I wanted. So I was stuck with one of those floor-to-ceiling mirror panels. But I love using mirrors in general, so I always find a way to get one in a room. Makes my snobby sims really happy. Cutie

P.S. New smilies!!! Ecstatic

I used the combo of Moveobjects On and holding down the Alt key. Very Happy

I swear I saw someone post here about how to do it. I've been looking for that thread because I at least wanted to give them credit. But I can't find it. No

I know how to do it. Razz

You have to also use the cheat "disableSnappingToSlotsOnAlt [on|off]" so that the counters don't automatically snap to each other, then with MOO and the ALT key just place/rotate how you want. Smile

Gah, I'm so bad at making kitchens, compared to everyone else. The island is awesome and the little details are top notch. Definitely looks lived in. Very Happy

Yeah it took me a while to figure out how people where making those block style kitchen islands where half the island had regular counters with a sink in it and the other side was the kitchen bar. I didn't know about that cheat until a few months ago..now I use it all. the. time. Razz

You know, I just thought...I wonder if it works on doors and windows? That would be awesome, but I bet it doesn't...

I've tried using Alt to move doors and windows but it doesn't work. I've never really used DisableSnapping at all. Anyone else?

And thanks for the compliments everyone! I have a lot of fun with Moveobjects On. Smile
